EA Sports has predicted the outcome of Super Bowl XLII based on simulations using Madden NFL 08 video game. Sounds crazy but five years in a row is pretty impressive bt any means.
The New England Patriots will beat the New York Giants in a close game by the final score of 38-30. Skeptics may scoff at such a prediction but EA Sports has predicted the past five winners of the Super Bowl.
EA Sports says the Patriots and Giants got off to a close start with two touchdowns by running back Laurence Maroney and three field goals by Giant's kicker Lawrence Tynes who helped the Giants get to the Super Bowl by kicking the game winning kick over the Green Bay Packers.
Towards the end of the third quarter the Patriots led by only one 24-23. They added to their lead with a 31-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tom Brady to wide receiver Randy Moss. In the fourth quarter the Giants were down 31-23 and a chance to tie the game. A tipped pass by quarterback Eli Manning dashed those hopes as the Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel made an interception. The Patriots would score one more time to take the lead 38-23.
The Giants scored one last time and the game ended 38-30. It will be fun to see how the real game turns out on Sunday.

The funny part is that a couple years back, when the Patriots were playing the Eagles in XXXIX, Bill Belichick read Philadelphia's plans for a championship parade to his team the night before the game, pretending to be infuriated that the city would set that up

A Super Bowl win for the New England Patriots on Sunday would set up a big-league conflict between politics and sports in a city that is obsessed with both: The victory parade would have to be on Super Tuesday, when Massachusetts votes with 21 other states in critical Democratic and Republican presidential primaries the Boston Globe reported.
Mayor Thomas M. Menino said Monday that there is no choice. The players would not be able to get back from Phoenix early enough for a Monday parade. And a number of Patriots have to travel to Hawaii Wednesday for the Feb. 10 Pro Bowl.
City officials have been planning a route that would skirt polling places and are putting extra police officers on call. More than 200 officers are needed to guard ballots each election day. Hundreds more are typically needed to control massive crowds during victory rallies.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens is unhappy with the player's Union
"Honestly, I'm disappointed in the union. The second time that we've kind of used their services, I've been very, very disappointed in that,'' he said on an ESPN radio show from the Super Bowl.
Owens was defended by the NFLPA when he fought the Philadelphia Eagles' suspension of him in November 2005, and in this matter. The Eagles contended that after they suspended Owens for "conduct detrimental to the team,'' he owed them $1.725 million of his $2.3 million signing bonus. They withheld his remaining paychecks, but still fell nearly $800,000 short of the total they'd sought.
"I'm not going to really worry about the money, money doesn't really make me,'' Owens said. "I'm very fortunate to be where I am, and I'll leave that in the past.''

1. Darren McFadden, 6-1, 217, Arkansas
This fast junior running back has the all-around skills to be an impact player early is his professional career.
2. Rashard Mendenhall, 5-11, 225, Illinois
Mendenhall is a rugged back who completed an outstanding 2007 season. He will be a workhorse in the NFL.
3. Jonathan Stewart, 5-10, 230, Oregon
This underclassman has the size to be a powerful inside runner and the speed to break the big play.
4. Felix Jones, 5-11, 200, Arkansas
This fast all-purpose performer looks to wow scouts in workouts. A good 40-yard dash time could guarantee him a first-round grade.
5. Steve Slaton, 5-9, 195, West Virginia
This fast all-purpose back is an explosive performer who needs to prove durable as a pro.
6. Kevin Smith, 6-0, 210, Central Florida
Smith is a natural runner who has received a ton of carries at the college level. He has good skills and ranks among the top backs.

He is freakishly athletic for his size and fills a huge need for the Dolphins, whose defensive tackles are old enough to remember 8-track stereos and bicycles with banana seats.
2. St. Louis Rams - Chris Long, DE Virginia
Team Needs: OT LB CB S OG
Leonard Little is 33 years old and coming off an injury, and James Hall hasn’t been a big threat in the pass rush since coming over from Detroit. Long, the son of Hall of Famer Howie Long, is a complete defensive end who is an explosive pass rusher as is evidenced by his 14 sacks this year playing in a 3-4 system.
3. New York Jets - *Darren McFadden, RB Arkansa
Team Needs: DE FS WR OLB OT OG
Despite trading for Thomas Jones following the 2006 season, the Jets would have a hard time letting McFadden – who has a rare combination of speed, balance, and vision -- fall to the division-rival Patriots.

Oh how things can change from one year to the next. Last year the Falcons seemed set at quarterback with Michael Vick starting and Matt Schaub backing him up. Since then, Schaub was traded to Houston and Vick has been sent to prison. And neither Joey Harrington nor Byron Leftwich has done anything to make anyone think either is the answer.

The Patriot’s age at inside linebacker is beginning to really stand out. Laurinaitis, assuming he leaves school early, would be a perfect fit for the Patriots. It also wouldn’t be surprising if New England trades this pick.

Years of taking a pounding has taken its toll on Steve McNair’s body and Kyle Boller, despite displaying bouts of competency, is still far too inconsistent.

The Chiefs’ decline on offense can be directly tied to an offensive line that has been picked apart by age. Long is a bit overrated in my opinion, so he may be gone by the time the Chiefs pick

The Raiders need an upgrade over Stuart Schweigert, and Phillips is just another in the line of great safeties coming out of Miami. If he leaves school early, he and Michael Huff would give the team a great pair of young safeties.

Team Needs: DE DT OLB SS
The Bengals have needed an upgrade at defensive tackle for several years, and their situation becomes even more desperate each year. This team will not be a serious contender until they address the interior of their defensive line.
10. Chicago Bears - Andre Woodson, QB Kentucky
Team Needs: QB OG OT WR S RB OLB
So much depends on the direction the Bears go in free agency. They can’t go into another season with Rex Grossman, Brian Griese and Kyle Orton at quarterback, but they also need some fresh bodies on the offensive line, particularly at right tackle. Boise State’s Ryan Clady is a strong possibility if he passes up his final season in school, and would allow Chicago to shift veteran John Tait to the right side.

Antrel Rolle and Eric Green haven’t lived up to their pre-draft billings, so the Cardinals should be in the market for a corner to pair with Roderick Hood.

With Javon Walker’s health as an issue and Brandon Marshall’s recent run-in with the coaching staff, the Broncos would be wise to bring in some insurance for the position.

Ronde Barber will be 33 next season and Phillip Buchanan has never lived up to his potential coming out of college. Jenkins would be a great value this late in the first round.
26. New York Giants - *Felix Jones, RB Arkansas
Team Needs: OLB S CB OG C P FB
Brandon Jacobs looks like a guy who is going to be more successful in an offense that features two backs. Jones is the other running back from Arkansas, but running in the shadow of Darren McFadden, he averaged more than 9 yards per carry in 2007. He’s a highly talented player of his own accord who could be overlooked because of his role.
27. San Diego Chargers - Jeff Otah, OT Pittsburgh
Team Needs: OT DE NT OG S
The Chargers are loaded with talent, but they could use an upgrade at right tackle. And while he may never be an elite left tackle, Otah, at 6-7 and 335 pounds, looks like he was built to play the position.
28. Jacksonville Jaguars - Quentin Groves, DE Auburn
Team Needs: WR S CB DE OT OG
Adding some explosiveness to the pass rush from the outside should be a priority for any already-stingy defense. At nearly 250 pounds, Groves flashes 4.4 speed, and has good pass-rushing skills.
29. Green Bay Packers - Leodis McKelvin, CB Troy
Team Needs: RB OT OLB CB
Al Harris and Charles Woodson are among the best corner duos in the NFL, but they’re not getting any younger. Drafting a top corner this year would allow the team to work him into the rotation slowly.
29. San Francisco 49ers (from Indianapolis) - *Mario Manningham, WR Michigan
Team Needs: WR OT OG FS CB
Manningham lacks elite speed, but he does a good job of using his quickness to gain separation from defenders. With the 49ers in need of a No. 1 receiver, he should get some consideration at this point.
31. Dallas Cowboys Limas Sweed, WR Texas
Team Needs: WR CB NT OT S
Having used their first pick on defense, the Cowboys would probably look to the wide receiver position with this pick. At 6-5, 220 pounds, Sweed is a big, strong local prospect who is rated as a mid first rounder by some.
32. New England Patriots - Pick Forfeited
Team Needs: ILB OLB CB
The Patriots have forfeited this pick as a penalty for their role in Spygate.

Despite a shaky Tom Brady, the New England Patriots were still too much for the banged-up San Diego Chargers in the AFC championship game Sunday, pulling out a 21-12 victory that sent them back to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in seven seasons.
"I think there will be a time to sit back and reflect," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "We'll certainly enjoy this for a few days."
Brady made several stunningly poor throws that fluttered in the chilly wind, Randy Moss was a non-factor for the second straight game and the highest-scoring team in NFL history sputtered all afternoon. Instead, the Patriots (18-0) relied on Laurence Maroney's spins, cuts and helmet-rattling runs.
With injured Chargers star LaDainian Tomlinson reduced to mostly watching in a parka, the Patriots moved on to a Feb. 3 matchup in Glendale, Ariz., against the New York Giants
